Introduction
Nonlinear is a five-piece progressive metalcore/djent band from Athens, Greece. Although the band has only been around for a year in the local metal community, they are comprised of experienced members with a strong history in the local Athens scene and have already participated in several live performances. The band’s sound is an explosive combination of dynamic riffs, polyrhythms and melodic passages, with strong atmospheric elements. The lyrics of their songs focus on social issues, emotional conflicts and inner struggle, always with hope and the search for light through darkness as their central theme.
“The Longing Light” Ep
Their first EP titled ‘The Longing Light’. Combining heavy djent riffs, atmospheric textures and deeply emotional lyrics, ‘’The Longing Light’’ deals with themes such as nostalgia, inner conflict, addiction (including social media addiction), and personal redemption. This EP is a musical mirror of the journey through hardship and self-discovery, with technical perfection and sincere intensity. The EP includes a collaboration with Vrodex, while the mixing and mastering were handled by Gareth Hargreaves. The cover was designed by Irini Grammenou.
The Longing Light” is an introspective journey through the shadows of lost love, the search for meaning, and the eternal flicker of hope that guides us through the darkest moments of our lives. This EP represents the tension between the pain of what has been left behind and the pull of a light just ahead, promising something better, though distant. The songs delve into themes of nostalgia, self-reflection, and personal transformation, with the characteristic intensity of the songs mirroring the emotional complexity of these experiences.
