Frozen winds from the Northern Greece
Likno is an atmospheric Black Metal band from Kozani, consisting of the duo Neurosplinter and Flægra. They give us a taste of their old school black metal through their self-titled debut album, released on 14 July 2024 and has already managed to gain some hype in black metal circles.
Likno met through the covid virus and started jamming with every instrument imaginable.
Later, through research they discovered common passion for black metal by listening to and jamming to tracks from both classic bands of the genre (Bathory, Darkthrone, Immortal etc.) and from the Greek Scene (Rotting Christ, Varathron, Kawir etc.). All of this led to the point of deciding in October 2022 to make their own music.
Their sound refers to old school Black Metal and its atmospheric elements. Generally they are influenced by many kinds of music besides Black Metal bands. Some important inspirations are: classical music, Greek Folk music and medieval music. Influences from Bathory, Varathron and especially Rotting Christ are not hidden. Likno is a record that honors the roots of black metal staying true to the pioneers of the genre.
